Hiya! I am happy.
Are you happy? Like, really happy? From the core of your heart? Or is something still bothering you? Or are you trying to convince yourself that you are happy? Or maybe you’ve genuinely tried everything and still can’t seem to figure out what it is that you need, to reach to that point?
This reminds me of the movie The Pursuit of Happyness. I have a favorite quote from the movie. It’s in the last scene where Will Smith finally gets the job he worked so hard for, and he says:

And my God, does he do justice to that scene… such an amazing portrayal of true happiness.
If you haven’t seen the movie… PLEASE DO.
So, am I saying you need to work hard, bust your ass to be happy? Well… yes, but not exactly.
I’m saying… You need to have a purpose.
Humans are such amazing creatures created by God. We are self-conscious. We are philosophical. We don’t merely just survive and reproduce like other animals. We have a purpose; something to look forward to every day, which makes us get out of bed in the morning.
But what happens when someone loses their purpose? Do they look happy to you? Are they energetic and enthusiastic? Do they have goals they’re working hard for WILLINGLY? Do they have a zest for life like some people do? No.
And it’s not their fault. Shit happens. That’s life.
I’m here to talk to you about what to do after shit happens.
You have got to find your purpose again!
When the mind has something it genuinely LOVES, it allows you to LIVE. And not just plain existing; you get this newfound love for life, especially the little things. Like watching birds fly or watching kids play in the park. And you’re just… happy. You are no longer comparing yourself to the people you used to before. You are no longer jealous. You no longer wish to be someplace else or in some other time. You no longer think when you look at kids playing, “These kids are so carefree. Just wait until they grow up. Huh.”
None of that. You no longer have negativity in you because you are truly, genuinely happy where you are. Because you’ve found your purpose. Because now when you wake up, you don’t question the mundane, meaningless existence that is life. Because it’s not meaningless anymore! And suddenly, everything is so vividly colored all around you! No grey filters.
Find a purpose, my friends! Find something to look forward to!
Now, the big question is HOW?
That part is not so easy. It takes time and effort. I know because it took me quite a while. I’ll tell you what I did.
I made a list of things I liked in life and a list of things I was good at. They didn’t have to be degrees or professional skills. Just anything in life I was good at. I even wrote “I can rant well” in my list. And it’s one of the reasons that eventually led me to start my blog because I’m really basically just ranting here.
So, it can be anything; just put it on your list! You don’t have to show it to anyone. And slowly start to think about what you can do with these things. Take inspiration and ideas from other people’s stories. Once you kind of have something figured out (It doesn’t have to be concrete. Allow yourself to figure it out as you go. You don’t need to plan everything to the T in your life.), have COURAGE to pursue it.
Oh yes.
It’s not as easy as it sounds. It takes time, effort, and a lot of COURAGE. Because you are trying to do something you love, and that usually doesn’t sit right with a lot people, since they never had the courage themselves to pursue what they loved. But be BOLD, my friend!
Then just work for it! And I promise it won’t be hard because you’ll be doing something you love! So, it won’t feel like work anymore. You’ll just naturally give it your everything.
Trust me, once you cross this phase, you are going to be so HAPPY and GRATEFUL to yourself that you did it. It’s a feeling like no other!
So, if you are stuck right now feeling blue or if you are in the fog without a lantern (wink wink)… KNOW that you are not alone. I’m here for you holding a light. Just follow it. Just do this. You will start loving to live again! You’ll finally be happy.
See you on the other side! 🙂
